A Unique Approach to Tattooing
Dallas tattoo artist Bastian Hill creates bold, character-driven tattoos with crisp linework, smooth gradients, and vibrant color.
Nostalgia is at the heart of much of his work. Bastian believes favorite characters often represent more than fandom—they can connect people to childhood memories, personal values, and stories that helped shape who they are.
His goal is to turn those connections into custom tattoos that feel personal to the person wearing them.
Where It All Started
Bastian has been drawing for as long as he can remember—starting with paper, tables, and occasionally the walls of his childhood home.
After nearly ten years working as a server and bartender, an unexpected opportunity led him to a tattoo apprenticeship at Dallas Tattoo.
As Bastian puts it, “Tattooing found me.”
Once he entered the industry, he knew he had found a way to combine his love of art with his desire to create something meaningful for others.
Developing a Creative Style
Bastian developed much of his artistic foundation through school art classes, self-education, online courses, and years of experimentation.
His experience with graphite, acrylics, watercolor, airbrushing, digital illustration, and other mediums continues to influence his tattooing today.
He believes an artist should never stop learning and approaches every new project as an opportunity to improve.
Anime, Comic Books & New School
Anime, comics, cartoons, and video games have influenced Bastian since childhood.
His work draws inspiration from everything from Dragon Ball, Bleach, and Studio Ghibli to Batman, Spider-Man, Disney, and video games.
Artwork Beyond Tattooing
Bastian’s creativity extends beyond tattooing.
His artwork has appeared on music releases, apparel, skateboards, and projects for Dallas-area events. He also works with traditional and digital media, continually experimenting with new techniques and ways to create.
For Bastian, art has never been limited to one medium—it has simply always been part of his life.
Events, Conventions & Community
Bastian has showcased his work at tattoo conventions and participated in special events and charity tattoo fundraisers.
As his career grows, he hopes to travel, attend more conventions, collaborate with other artists, and tattoo people around the world.
No matter where tattooing takes him, his goal remains the same: keep learning, keep creating, and make artwork that connects people with something they love.
