About this piece
This flash piece is inspired by Mark Grayson from Invincible, reimagined as Barnacle Boy from SpongeBob SquarePants. I wanted to combine Mark’s serious superhero look with Barnacle Boy’s classic mask, gloves, neckerchief, and color palette while keeping the blood splatter and battle-worn feel that makes Invincible so recognizable. The little Krabby Patty thought bubble adds some humor and pushes the SpongeBob crossover even further. I love the contrast between the violent world of Invincible and the goofy nostalgia of SpongeBob, making this a fun comic and cartoon mashup. I’d like this piece to be done rather large and take up a good portion of whichever body part we choose. The larger size will give Mark’s portrait, mask, gloves, blood effects, Krabby Patty, and smaller graphic details enough room to stay clean and readable while allowing the overall composition to make a bigger impact.
